86 tecate idleing problem??

My 86 tecate idles to fast and wont idle down. If the tank is full of gas it will idle down where you want it. But as the tank goes down the idleing goes up. Can you help???

Make sure the vent tube on the tank isnt plugged or restricked. Usally fast idle means it is getting too much air. That is a very strange problem.

are you sure it's not heat-related (the longer it runs the more the idle drops)?

Taking it today to tower city to ride. Believe it or not I think it was the cable adjustment? I installed a new needle and seat valve, and it still did the same thing. After many hours of taking the carb off and on I discovered that the throtle was not going the whole way closed. adjusted the cable and it seemed to fix it. Will see?

I still cant figure out why it idled ok with a full tank, but if this fixs it, Im happy.
