I've seen the reed cage bolt pattern on the Honda 250r engines and they seem to be the same. Why do they sell seperate reeds for the water cooled and air cooled engines? Can you put the Boyesen Rad Valves rom the water cooled engines to the air cooled engines? Thanx!

if u have the 2 cages jsut compare them and if they look close then it will probly work....but better reeds make your engine run leaner so it will run hotter so if it is air cooled you might run ito problems there...it would be cool if it worked tho

From my memory, yes, 81-84 interchange with '85-89 ATC/TRX.

And there is no reason to sell 81-84 and 85-89 as different pieces. They are the same.

As for the RAD valve fitting...probably not. The carbs come out on different sides. but you might be able to cut and weld on a new flange if it appeals to you.

New reeds do not make your motor run lean... Bad jetting makes you motor run lean. Boyesen Pro-fibers make the bike requires a jetting change of 2-3 sizes because it makes the bike run too rich.
