Big Carb 250r

I have questions. I bought an 84 250R a while ago. The engine was seized but besides that it was in good shape ($200.00). Pulling the jug revealed a missing skirt on the exhaust side. While after a large sum of time and money it was fixed.

Onto my question. Started very easily but running quit rich this is when I noticed the carb A 40 mm Mikuni (huge compared to the stock 30mm Kehein "spelling" )

Why in the world would you put such a large carb on?

Do you think this would have something to do with the engine problem?

Anyone want to trade? (jetting nightmare)

thats not too unusaul, but alittle big. I use a 38 a/s on my 85r(stock was 34mm). l
