View Full Version : 86 ATC250sx Carb problems
I have a problem with the choke plunger on my carb. It's stuck. The 250sx was in a fire do you that has any thing to do with? There is black build up of something all around it. I tried pulling it out but the tabs wear the choke cable would attach broke off they were very britle. I have the carb soaking in my carb cleaner(that acid stuff forget what its called) now for a couple of days seeing if that would loosen it up. Thats where I am now. Any suggestions??

I bought a used 87 250SX carb and found the same thing. It was stuck inside with old bad gas which had varnished. I knew I had better not try to pull it out. I soaked it in gas for over 2 weeks - nothing, not the slighteset movement at all. Then I propped it upright and kept spraying CRC carb cleaner into it - it would evaporate and spill but I kept at it. I would also gently tap the side where the plunger was stuck. 2 days later it fell out just by putting a screwdriver inbetween the tangs and spinning it. You don't have your tangs anymore though and I don't know what brand of cleaner you used but CRC worked for me. You may have to soak it and then drill it and easy out it. I would soak it and try blowing compressed air reversally through the choke air passage.
