I am looking at my friends ATC tomorrow which is pretty much a parts bike as it sits right now, just a motor on a chasis with tires and wheels. He knows nothing about the bike, other than that it is a honda and a 200. How can I tell which model it is? I'm thinking it's either the ATC200 or the ATC200s since it does not have electric start or rear suspension. Are there any ways to tell?

There should be at least two stickers, one on the front fork behind the headlight, and the other on the left side of the frame. These should both tell what year/model that you have. Maybe you can locate at least one of these. Usually, the sticker on the handle bars is readable. I have a 200 model. I am fairly new to ATC's, but I am hooked already. Maybe one of the more experienced members can help with more information. Also, check to see what size the tires are. Some of the different years have different tire sizes. If it has 25X12X9's it is probably an ATC 200 model like mine (1982). I believe that the later years have smaller tires. Good luck - Ted

Doe's it have front suspension? Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't the 200s from 1983 and beyond have front suspension?

I think the kid has a 200cc Big Red from the questioning round I administered to him. He said the other bike is smaller and in rough shape, so I'm thinking either a 185 or a 125. It's missing the plastic, gas tank, and one rear wheel/tire. I just want to see if I can get the motor running then hopefully find some used parts locally. Thanks for the help

He said it dosnt have electric start. So it cant be a 200e/es big red. Or a 200m. so it has to either a plain 200/200s.
