400EX carb on a 350X??

Has anyone tried a 400ex carb on a 350X? I bought one cheap and was able to get it to work but the bike was slower than stock. I think I used a 142 main with a 350x pilot jet. Does anyone know what jets to use?
The bike is stock except for a UNI filter and 14 Tooth front sprocket w/20in. holeshots...

Internet jetting is almost impossible. Have you done a cut read on the plug?

No I did not do a plug chop, but it was blowing black smoke, which is rich... Its been about a year since I messed with it. Although if someone has done this setup before on a relatively stock bike, what jets and clip position they used would give me a place to start or at least get me in the 'ballpark' If not it will just take some time and experimenting with different jets/clip positions etc.
I'm hoping someone on this site has already had success with this setup...

when you find this info out, let me know. I want to try this mod, but I am going to wait until I have to tear into the motor and rebuild it. AT that time I probably will go with a 10:1 piston, and a mild cam, and a pipe. Hopefully after all of that, it will take the bigger carb without having to jet it way down.
