im goint to try this as soon as i get some extra money...i tend to wear out sprockets execively and paying 20 somthing bucks plus shipping a pop is getting kinda anal..
so i was walkign through farm and fleet and looked at #50 tractor chain..it seems to be excatly the same except a bit wider, and lacking o rings, than the chain we run on our trikes ...the sprockets for that chain were sold there ranged from 30 to 50 teeth ..and only 10 dollars a piece and with some drilling they look liek they could fit unto the 200x sprocket hub...hence giving me quick and cheap sprocket interchagebility...
opinions?
What would you use for a front sprocket. to much chain side play on the trikes front sprocket is not good.

Do you replace both sprockets and the chain together as a set when they wear out? They should give you several years of use. If you only replace only one of the three items, it will quickly wear out from running with the other worn parts.

AS DADS SAID WHAT ABOUT THE FRONT SPROCKET.AND ALSO HAS BEEN SAID HOW QUICK ARE YOU ACTUALLY WEARING THEM OUT?MINE ARE CHANGED ONCE(MAYBE TWICE) A YEAR AS A SET!!YOU SHOULDNT BE GOING THROUGH THEM THAT QUICK THAT YOUR NEEDING TO BODGE ON TRACTOR SPROCKETS TO CUT DOWN ON RUNNIN COST!!
MAINTAIN IT A LITTLE MORE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:headbang:
I BET YOUVE BEEN THINKING OF WAYS TO BOOST YOUR BEER MONEY UP;)

if you're going through the cheap ones that fast why not just save up a little and buy a real good set & be done with it. a little maintenance & proper adjustment wouldn't hurt either. ;)

Is the pitch between teeth on the new chain the same as the old sprockets? And I wouldn't recommend drilling new holes in a sprocket. There is a extremely good chance that you won't get them within tolerences, which will lead to rapid wear and breakage of the components.

i do alot of slow down wheely away type riding and tire spinning and stuff so the chain wears fairly fast..i should be changing chains a little more often..but chain tend to run knda expensive..the side to side paly isnt too bad..we stuck a 50 chain ona 200sx 4 wheeler couple years ago and it worked great..other than thickness the chains seem to be identical...im going to try and give it a shot..but yea u guys are right i should save upa nd buy some nice hain and stuff..once get riding more long trail rides i might do that..
