This is for Madmax. I guess they had water entry problems on the 250SX until a certain serial number. If it got fixed there is a big "X" on your swingarm on the axle tube shaft outside. I will tell you this ALL THE SX's in my opinion have a "water entry problem" Any seal, any flange and the boot should all be spotless and coated with a good permatex #2 or equivalent. I put sealant around the swingarm where the boot goes also, snug up the screws and let it sit overnight and then tighten them down in the morning. I always use a new boot when I mess with them, why risk a 300$ diff?? There are far too many places that water can get in the swingarm or diff and axle area - and when you find out it got in there it is too late and the post comes up "I need a new diff, HELP!!!!" Best thing to do is run the 86/87 swingarm complete on you 85 as they are better sealing and the brakes almost never see a drop of dirt or water. They have extra orings on the tubes also. But expect to pay 500$ for a nice one unless you get lucky. I run 87 swings on both my 85's.

:lmao: :lmao: The SX has a water prob with the swing tube.
:lmao: if it has a X on axle tube it's fixed.

Problem two holes in frame tube that filled the tube half full of water. and that rots the beer can seal they put in before the bearing.

HONDA's Fix drill a third hole it the bottom so it will drain. Beer can seals still rot out,

My Fix. put gease fittings in the holes and fill the tube full of grease. no beer can seals to rot and no water.

after gearseing make sure the seals are still in place. grease will push them out on you. if so just wipe off some gease and forse back in.
