I was surfing to net and came across a Yahoo Group that was about Honda ATC's anyway there was a guy on there that was said for a performance mod to a 200x you could use an XR600 motor. Has anyone else ever heard of this or have any info on it...? I emailed the guy asking for some more info...

that would take huge amounts of frame modification to work. I hardly see the point, as the suspension and brakes on a stock 200x aren't up to it. It would be fast though LOL.

I think that I am going to start simple with it and go from there. I am looking to get an extra head and have it ported/polished also I am looking at getting an 27mm carb for it as well. Now if I could just locate the parts.... Hopefully with the additon of these mods it will be a little quicker:headbang:

I don't think on a 200x that you would see tons of gain from that, unless you had a racing pipe, and at least a 10:1 piston, and a mild cam. Maybe you already have some of these things. I was going to mod my 200x with the above mentioned things, but after riding my 350x I hardly saw the point, since a highly modded 200x motor isn't that reliable :D Good luck with the project.

I do have a Cobra exhaust pipe installed on it. If I could get my hands on a 350X that would be great. I am currently looking for one of those too.

Well, in my 200x, it looks like the 200 engine takes up a good portion of the frame....I dont think its easy to drop a 600 motor in it. And mounting the radiators(assuming the 600 has them) and all that would be pretty tough and take a lot of know how and fabricating...

The early XR600 models are air-cooled.

you can really hop up the 200x if you want to. pipe, carb, ported head, bigger cam, high comp. piston, etc. etc.
I wouldn't bother with the XR motor, but it might be a good swap into a 350x that has already lost it's motor.

That is the route I am planning on taking. I am looking for a 27mm carb and buying a spare head to get it polished and ported. I will see if I need to go any further after that....

that sounds a little far fetched, i don't see 2 carbs and an oil tank fitting in there.
search 84 atc500 xr on this board and you can see the beginning of the project. now that's it's cold again we'll be on it again soon. i made the fixture to bore the 500 jug last week and have all the motor parts, keep an eye out

huh, interesting, i always thought that all carbs where made in 2mm increments, and to get odd sizes, you had to bore a small one out, proved wrong again i geuss, not the first time, wont be the last time...
