I'm trying to get my 1984 110 running. Its got no spark. I've used my ohm-meter and cylmer manual to test the culprits and found two problems: 1) stator coil has no continuity and therefore my Cyler tells me its fried. 2) pulse generator tests as out of spec. at 90ohms (60ohms is the top-end of normal range).

I have not tested the CDI unit.

What do ya think? should I go ahead and replace the stador coil first then pulse generator if necessary or just do them both? I've never done either of these jobs before, it dosn't look that difficult, any advice?

i had the same pblem and found out that the wires in th bottom cap where the timing notches are were broke...it has the oil protective sleve over the wires and looked in tact but i looked better and realized that the wires were broke right where they go into the side of the engine...to buy the coil is expensive... but you can bring it to a shop to get it tested

Ironmonkey, that is too funny. Since my post I've done more checking on the project '84 110. I tested the stator and pulse generator vs my running, perfect '83 110. The readings were the same so I started checking further. I checked some wires for continuity and new right away something was a mess. It turns out that a mouse ate the wires in the frame at about the same spot you mention. I'm going to start a new thred on this and see if I can get some advice.
