I'm replacing my fork seals this week on my 225DR. Yamaha calls for a 10w oil to be used. I don't feel like ordering it and having to wait for a few days to get the reccomended weight.(I want to ride my DR this weekend) I can use the 5w Honda fork oil we have in our shop in it's place, right? I don't see where that would make much difference. Besides what harm can I do. Opinions are welcomed. Thanks . Chuck

Sure you can. And you can change viscosities when ever you like, just don't combine them!!:)

Cat is right. The 5w is more of a allseason oil. So in the cold weather the oil can flow easily. It wont hurt it all to run it with the 5w.

I think Honda recommends using tranny fluid. It is supposed to be around 7w. Thats what I've been running in my R for years.
