i need help on how to remove a timing chain (i think) when i spin the nut the engine spins so....i tried to stop it from spinning but i couldnt get anything to work and tips? :(

its a 1985 yfm 80 (quad) not trying to fix anything...bored its been sitting ill never get to it so im taking it apart to maybe learn something....and im just plain bored :D

Get it up on compression stroke, put a six point wrench on the bolt and smack it with a hammer (not real hard just a firm smack). The shock should loosen it. If that don't work stick a screwdriver down the plug hole and hold the piston. Just kidding about the screw driver technique.

roll the motor over with plug in it till theres resistence (compression).

Even though he is goofing about the screw driver, you can stuff rope down the spark-plug hole. it will only compress so far and then will hold the piston without doing any damage. When done just pull the rope out of the spark-plug hole.
Give it a shot, it works.

the fly wheel on the engine is help on by screws going around the outside of it but some have silicone inside the holes for screwdriver but the dremel took is to big to fin in there any tips?

Is this the 80 motor you were just taking apart for the hell of it? if so , are you planning on this thing ever running again? Some times I get a bigger hammer and just say to hell with it. I have learned the price of several assorted flywheels, stators, center cases, etc. I'm not a moderator or nothing of the sort, but man when you post a new thread at least tell us what machine you have under attack. Geez! :bash:
