sounds like the universal joint! my big red did this at the left rear and it was the left axle bearings that were crunching and clicking. I would check that first.:D

From Honda shop left side bearings and seals $88. Right side $54. You can go to bikebandit.com and look up all the prices on the u joint. I think you have to buy the entire driveshaft.$$$$$

whatever you do, park it until you can fix it. you don't want to ruin otherwise good parts if the diff. by running chunks of metal through them.

ok how do i tell if its a wheel bearing or a u joint, i dont think its a u joint, its not a click everytime it rotates its just on occasion, and how big of a pain is it to do axle bearings?

Most of the time the hub will become loose on the axle. that lets you know the bearings are on the way out. on the drivew line it makes a clicking sound, sounds like a gear not enguageing and a vibration.

Ok i have had the left (driveshaft side) hub come loos on my a while back, if i pull the hub off can i feel the bearing to see if its loose or is it more than likely a bearing, it sounds right to me but just truing to make sure, i dont wanna hurt the ring and pinion,

Pull the hub and unbolt the axle tube and slide it off the axle.

I had the left hub get loose. I snugger it up and with in a month I was replaceing the bearings.

yep, same thing I did. I never did get that frozen brake drum off so I could change bearings in the right side, though.

no its not hard to do, but mine had major rust inside the tube and on the enclosed axle, and I ended up replacing the differential seal also.:p

Dose the axle slide out of the ring gear or do you need to disassemble that too?

If you remove the axle tube on the left side it will slide out. BUT you will lose the bearing stop washer of the right side in the tube. you will have to pull the backing plate off the right side. and the bearings in the backing plate have a clip on the out side that holds the bearings in. I can get front & rear axle kits, & diff. kits.
just look in the bearing post.
