fuel on 85 tri-z

i dont know the fuel system on my tri-z. i am not getting gas to the carb. i am used to the 4 strokers and the way this is all ran is getting me.if you open the on valve on the thing gas dont just come out like i am used to. and there is a seperate valve for reserve??!! what is that thing conected to the reserve valve? is it a fuel pump of some sort? please help me out if you can. i went to the local dealer and was told i cant get a book on this trike. is that true???:confused:

tri-z uses a fuel pump. unless the tank is over 3/4 full (or more) the gas will not flow unless the engine is running. the pump (the round thing on the right side of the frame) works off of vacuum from the engine. HTH

I have a manual so if you need to know how the hoses or anything are run just let me know.

It ius not realy a vacume pump. If you pull the line off the crank case and blow in it it should make fuel and air come out the line to the carb if the pump is good and the lines are not clogged.
clean the silt bowel on the main shut off. you should have a secondairy shut off too. to the right of the pump.

thanx guys for the help. yippeeee!! i tryed puting in more gas and it worked. all the help is wonderfull. :lala:
now i have to put everything back together that i took off to, unnessesarily, trace the lines to the tank. oh well i need to get to know the trike better anyway.:chuckle:

Don't mean to bring up a dead thread, but I thought I would search before I asked.

Can someone explain to me what the main and seconday fuel ****'s do on the tri-z?. I understand the how the fuel pump works from the vacume line, but what is the purpose of the 2 on/off's?.

Looks like the one up front is main and the one in the back is the secondary that can be switched to res?.

Troll, I know you and a few others have already seen this from our site but here is a couple snaps. One owner rig, bone stock, runs awesome.

Now back to my question, does anyone understand why they used 2 fuel ****s?. (am I missing the boat here?) weird IMO.
