Hi all, I was going through my toolbox and came across my roost boost. I know it was on the bike when I bouhgt it off a freind and to my knowledge it acts as an electrical timing advance. It sure made a difference in how the bike ran too. Anyone have any experience with these things, good or bad?

I also wonder about these timing/ignition mods, are they worth the money, and where to get one for a 85 250R

I have the older unimproved version.....lol. I think I'll take it with me to Glamis next time and do the true tests on it to see the difference.....

Ok I called Answer Racing and spoke to a guy who was around in the old days....he said the roost boost is a capacitor or some other electrical part(sorry I forgot what electrical part exactly, been a long time since union classes and now I sell mortgages instead) that when plugged in, advances the timing. Essentially an electrical timing advance. I know I have seen mechanical timing advances in magazines so I know timing advance is great for some applications....right? Still not sure if the roost boost actually accomplishes this task or not, though.

Hey, there is a crowd here in NZ who build this type of unit, I got one for my "project trike" they give more power to the bottom & top end and keep a rounded curve in the ignition. The company is called "Electronic Research & Development" and the units are called "Hyperpac".

Depending on who you buy it through, they can vary from $200 to $600 NZ. The owner has now started to sell them by auction here on a web site called (www.trademe.co.nz) its an auction similar to Ebay. If you look in the motorbike section and then click on the parts they are listed there, I belive the start price which is also the reserve is just $185. Trust this may help, STORM. ;)
