I have a 1983 185s. It won't idle and it just doesn't run right. I don't know how to explain. I put new plugs in but in 2 to 3 hours of riding the have a lot of oil on them. What is wrong? Please help, I want to ride this weekend!!!

Oil fouled plugs can be caused by excessive oil entering the combustion chamber through worn rings and pistons, excessive clearance between valve guides and stems, or worn or loose bearings. If you do not repair the engine, you can try using a hotter plug as a short-term fix. Good luck, and credit to the Clymer repair manual for this diagnosis, pp.56.

When it runs it runs good and doesn't smoke blue! I said it didn't run good up above but that is when it is nearing the point where it will die! It doesn't smoke blue when it idles.

You might want to pull one of the valve adjuster caps off. And make sure the head isnt full of oil. You might have a return hole plugged with grime in the head. Not allowing the oil to drain back down to the block. But other then that. Like terminator said. It has to be one or the other. If the plug is coming out oiley it has to be getting into the cylinder some where.

If it is a bad oil ring you can go to a thicker oil to see if it stops foweling plug . 50 or 60 raceing oil. bad oil ring will pass oil at high RPM and when you put a load on the eng. :D
