Can you get a stock 350x to do lets say 82-85 mph? If so will it kill the bottom end?

so lets say i add a pipe and filter and 10.25:1 piston will i be able to go that fast and have about the same bottom end as stock, also do you know what gearing I would need for that speed?

NO.
around 14/32
but it takes more then gearing.
the right tires,
all your bearings being in perfect condition,
removing the air scoops,
excelent brakes (draging pads or slopppy pads create friction )
or you could just buy a 250R

What is everyone's preoccupation with top speed? I'd rather have a machine that is managable at 10-30MPH. I've left mine with the stock gearing for just that reason. About the only time I use all it's got is on the ice in the winter.

What should the top end speed of a 350X be stock? I have a 85 350X with the baffle removed in the exhaust, UNI air filter, 20 in. Holeshots, and a 14T front sprocket to make up for the smalller tires. I am getting just over 69 mph via GPS(on a flat backroad). Although I think it was a little faster with the stock 22 in. tires that got taller the faster you went. Beating stock 400ex is not a problem and I am almost even with a Z, I have raced both in the sand.

im gonna have to agree with 250ral. who cares how fast it is?! anyone who is rideing thier 3 wheeler for extended periods of time over speeds the factory designed them to run is on the wrong machine. if you want top speed buy a bike. otherwise just have fun rideing your trike.

i for one care. i like to ride on dirt roads and on snow covered roads in the winter. 250R's are not the best choice for long distances in the back country were you can't refuel often. a stock 350X screaming its guts out at 72 gets old.
ATCXman yes with the 22's it will be faster. you have to figure out if you want max speed (22" tires) or better handling (20" tires)

I agree with 250ral, how often do you see top speed, 72, 78, 80 is fast for any sand pit, trail. dunes is a different story. I ride my atc330r on mx, I'm concerned about gears 1-4, not too often 5 and my 250r hauls *** throgh them. now I have a 330, yet to ride it, but I'm probably going to go with a 38 rear over a 39, thats it. I want to keep my acceleration even if it means shifting more. my 250r before my motor work(not the 330) would go 80 that I know, that same day I rode a 350x and it didn't seem near as fast. After the motor work I didn't do any fireroading again. Its fun going fast, but don't you guys think its more fun to hit a jump, bank a turn, small jumps, sweaping woods section, a few small jumps and banked turns, then a huge tabletop. I think its alot more fun and keeps you on your toes more.
