I just put a throttle cable on my Tri-Z. After it was on, it started right up, rode it for about an hour and parked it. Two days later, i went to ride it again. I kicked it over like 100 times and it woudnt start. I changed plugs, nothing. Checked for spark, got spark. Checked for fuel, got fuel. I poured gas right into the cylinder and still nothing. Im at a loss. Anybody got any ideas??? :wtf: :wtf:

did you check the compression?

Well, you need air, fuel, compression, and spark, sounds like you checked two out of four. Maybe your not getting enough airflow for some reason? :wtf:

Could it have been flooded and pouring gas down it flooded it more?. Do you have anything there to pull start it with? Or just hold the throttle wide open. And keep kicking it over and see if it wants to fire.

I havent tried to pull start it, but i did hold the throttle wide open while kicking it. Ive tried three differnt plugs in it. Can you see why im so confused and frustrated.
is the plug wet or dry ? the tri has a fuel pump. pull line off carb kik it over it should pump fuel in small sperts.
if that don't help i have a small plutonium device you can use.:lmao:

It has to be one of those four things, so go back and recheck each one very closely, and check it with the exact same conditions as when your trying to start it. For example it might be that the weight of you on the bike is moving some wire, or kinking a fuel hose, so you don't get spark or gas. How long has it been since you've tore apart your carb?

I did take the line off the pump and it was coming out. Im probably gonna take the carb off tonight or tomorrow. HOPEFULLY i will find something.

You'll probably find something interesting in that carb, probably gunk in the bowl clogging the jets. While your at it double check the shut off valve between the pump and the carb (if you shut that one off the last time you rode it) there might be something wrong with it.

I just dont get why it wouldnt fire putting gas down it. Even If the carb is screwed up. It still should have fired. A trick we used to do on engine that got flooded bad. Was to add a couple drop of motor oil. Or two stroke oil. Down the spark plug hole. That way if the gas has washed down the cylinder walls and lost compression. The oil will recoat the walls of the cylinder. And help the rings to seal and bring the compression back up. It might be all it needs to start.

Thanks for all the info guys. Hopefully i can get to it on Sunday.
Yo Fuzzy I use trany fluid it seal an penertrates the carbon to help free up sticking rings. It's a old timers trick.

 I bet I know what it is, thanks to what happened to me today. It's probably something to do with the fuel pump, the brass fitting on the hose that goes from the cylinder into the back fuel pump came out and it just stopped running. I kicked and kicked, finally poked around down there and figured it out, it came out several more times, I'm gonna have it brazed on to the fuel pump or something.

:( Well, the Z is in the shop. Took it over there today after work. The sucky thing is that it wont be even touched for at least a month because they are so backed up there. But im not gonna complain because they are the only shop i trust to touch it around here.
