Ok I'm putting my 250r motor back together and I'm putting the gears on the crank, and the balancer in. There are timing marks on the inside gear on the crank and the gear on the balancer. Problem is someone has beat on the crankshaft and I'm not sure about the punch mark on it that is supposed to line up with the punch mark on the gear. There are two small marks side by side, but I'm not sure they are the original timing mark.

The way I have it on there now the outside mark on the gear and the mark on the gear on the balancer gear line up. They are at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, and the piston is at TDC, does this sound right?

Thanks, but I have a manual. My problem is the end of the crank has been beat on and I'm not sure about where the mark is on it.

When the marks on the balancer gear and the drive gear on the crank line up, what postion is the piston supposed to be?

Boy, I'll take a shot in the dark but I would assume it would be TDC. I could go yank the cover off mine to be sure but short of that, I have no GOOD answer for you - maybe someone else will chime in.

Well that is the way I have it set up now. I guess I'll find out when I start it up again. Still waiting on a new exhaust flange and gaskets before I put the exhaust back on and start it up
