Hey everyone -
I'm kinda new to this board but I thought that maybe some of you might like to check out my trike in it's current state...
I say current state because I'm far from finished! ;) I've got a bunch of other things planned for it, but you can check out my signature below for what I've got so far...
Anyway, here's a few shots of it that I took earlier tonight (in the dark like an idiot! LOL! But some of them don't look that bad - And yes, they have already been enhanced and lightened ;))
I'll post a few more from earlier this month when it wasn't so clean... :headbang:
Hope you like! :D

And the dirty one's from earlier this month, after I installed the DuraBlue (the quality of these are pretty crappy too so please forgive me!)

And one more - this one's from before the DuraBlue axle...
I'm sure you can see the difference! :headbang: :D

Thanks guys! :D
The DuraBlue rocks! :headbang: :headbang:
So far I think it is the best mod I have done to improve overall handling and stability, but it widened my stance by 6 inches, so I have to be careful in the tight stuff, especially after getting used to the OEM axle...
I've bumped into a few rocks I never used to bump into with the DuraBlue now.
Got mine off of ebay with very low hours on it for around $180 + shipping. I believe they're around $300 or $400 brand new, and they only make one model for the 83-85 200X's, and that's the Eliminator. Even though I got mine pretty cheap, I wouldn't hesitate spending $400 for a brand new one now that I can see the difference! My drivetrain just seems more solid to me now, and although my stock axle is not bent at all, the DuraBlue just seems to have a better balance with less vibration. Worth every penny! :D

Thanks again! :D :D :D
Hey Mike, I might be up for some roostin', :headbang: where do you live?
There's a few places to ride around me, but I'm still learning since I'm new to the area...
Plus I'm still working on my trike, and might have half of it apart soon for some work. But I'm always up for some riding so I will be in touch! :D

BTW, I meant to put this in my last post lol!
Nice 200s Matt! I might be buying one from a neighbor soon, but he's had it sitting out in his yard exposed for over 2 years now not running so it's not looking quite as nice as yours! ;) But I might grab it and see what I can do to make her live again... :headbang:

Oh, BTW, I also meant to mention to the moderator(s) who moved this post from the "Performance Mods" section to the "Pictures" section that the reason I originally placed the thread there was in the hopes of perhaps stirring up some "shop talk" about mods and whatnot. I appologize for any confusion.
It's my fault for not making that point clear in my original post. Sorry!

Thanks, Troll!
The flame-job was done by the previous owner, and it's not the best paint-job in the world... Up close you can see the masking tape lines where the red paint bled beneath the tape - amongst other defects...
Otherwise, it would look great! I think he just rushed it, plus he did it with spray cans... I guess it's not that bad but it could be better! :D
When I repaint it I'll have to decided whether or not to stick with the flames or just go to plain white, maybe with some different graphics or the original ('85) Honda red/white/blue wings logo - if I can find one! I'll figure that stuff out when I get to it later on...
Working on the mechanical stuff now - I want to make sure she's reliable as well as fast. ;)
So far I've had pretty good luck with it, I can't really complain at all, except for a few minor things here and there. But hey, it's around 18 years old! The fact that it still holds together and runs strong after so many years of off-road abuse is pretty impressive to me!
;)
Thanks again,
Sean

Thanks again!
The engine mods are nice - It's definitely got a bit more power than a stock 200X. I would love to know how much more, just out of curiosity. It would be cool to put it on a dyno someday. :D
But there's more to come for sure - I've got a few more things planned for it as time goes on... :demon:

Mike(NJ) - Sorry man, I totally must have overlooked your reply before!
Whitehouse Station.... sounds very familiar...
I'm originally from the city, so I'm still trying to learn my way around NJ ;)
My trike might be coming apart pretty soon for some work, but I would love to get together with another "triker" and do some riding. My only problem right now is that I can't transport it anywhere yet until I get a trailer hitch on my Jeep GCL.
I've only seen a few trikes around here, and all of them were for sale except for one guy who has an old Kawasaki 110 trike or something and rides it around here occasionally, but everytime I see him he's like "hey, I just outran a cop to get here!" or "hey, the rangers are looking for me right now!". Not the kind of guy I really want to ride with - I get into enough trouble on my own without anyone else helping me! ;)
Anyway, shoot me an e-mail and maybe we'll hook up someday for some roostin'!

to get rid of the masking lines water sand it with 600 grit paper and then put on 3 coats of clear. wet sand again and put on 3 more coats of clear. the line and the pant layers will be gone!! it is also cool to stipe the outside of the flame with a different color such as a thin dark blue. that also helps to hid the line. jsut stripe before you clear it.

Thanks, 200X Basket! When I repaint the tank, (if I do the flames again) I will definietely follow your advice. I was wondering how to get those lines out - it just looks terrible! If it wasn't for a few scratches in the metal that weren't filled it before paint, I might try to fix it the way it is now. But I'd rather just repaint it and do it right (your way).

Hey guys -
My girlfriend and I were messing around with our (sorta) new digital camera today and she snapped some pics of me riding, plus I took a few more in better light so you can get a better look at it...
I'm sure you'll agree it looked better in the dark! :lmao:
Hope you like! :D
Some of them are a bit blurry, and she was messing with the resolution so sizes and quality vary - sorry! :( It seems like a good camera, but we just haven't learned how to set it for certain shots yet.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy and I hope the "big cheese" doesn't mind either... ;)

Here's another - you can really see just how filthy she really is and how much work I have ahead of me!
I'm basically riding it until I get just about every part I need to rebuild it. Then I'm tearing the whole thing apart and putting the motor right into another frame which is in perfect condition. This frame has seen better days for sure (and so has the rest of the trike lol) and if you look closely in some of the following pictures right in front of the crankcase you'll see a spot where the frame had once completely snapped in two and has since been rewelded. Not good.
So I bought a new one, and I'm probably going to try to have it powdercoated. I might keep the old frame and throw this spare motor I have in it someday but who knows... (I've also got some swingarm issues now too, but we'll get to that another time...)
The engine is also getting repainted, but I'm definitely looking into doing it right - I don't want it to start chipping and flaking off 2 weeks after I paint it. Any suggestions there guys? Also, do you think I should get a new pipe, or try to clean this one up and paint it? I'd like to keep the header, but I definitely want to get rid of this DG muffler and replace it with something a little less loud - the nasty stuff you see on the muffler is RTV - I had to grind off the rivets holding the DG emblem on just to get the core out and repack it, so I didn't bother putting the plate back on and just glopped some of that crap on there to hold it for now... :D
So like I said, it looked better in the dark, didn't it? ;)
