I have an 84 200x, that's burning oil pretty bad. I have been considering my options. I figure rebuilding the top end will cost a couple hundred bucks, tell me if I'm wrong. I've also been toying with the idea of swapping the motor out with another used one, off ebay or the like. Upping the power in the process. I was wondering if anyone has done this, and with what motors. I'm thinking that a newer dirt bike motor could probably be made to work, if I can get around the kick start lever going the wrong way. Thanks for any help.

You could use a stock piston and do a cheapie rebuild for probably around $100, but yeah to do it right around $200 or a little less.

i'd spend the money on the 200x motor. if you spend the money on a used motor you still have a used motor but, if you rebuild the x motor you have a "new" motor buit how you want it.
i'd stay away from bike motors for anything other then custom jobs. bike motors have close ratio trannies compared to ATC wide ratio trannies.

my 200x has an xr motor in it. you can use your side cover off your 200x motor and get around the kick starter issue.
