Here's my problem: I was riding my x for the first time in a while.. I took it down the street once, and it stalled at the corner of my street, and wouldnt start back up.. It starts for maybe a second or 2, after every kick then dies.. I pushed it home, thinking it was a gas flow problem,i took off and cleand out the carb. blew it out with the air compressor, blew out the gas line, made sure that ther was nothing stuck in the in-line or in tank fuel filters. Put the carb back on, same thing... It starts every kick, then dies right away, if you give it throttle or not.. So next I checked spark, why I dont know cause it obviously had spark if it was starting... But I believe that that is the problem... It only sparks once, at the bottom of the kick and its a red, not blue spark..A few weeks ago I had electrical problems and bought new everything... I checked all of the components with the multimeter, and everything was within specs.. What could it be??? A weak stator AGAIN.. I put in my other CDI and it was still the same thing... Arent there supposed to be multiple, blue sparks with every kick?? I'm tired off this thing... Every time I ride the thing the electrical system takes a $hit....I checked all the wires to make sure that nothing is grounding out... The head light an tail light work fin.. What could it Be??? I'm goin nuts, I think I'm ready to just part out both of my trikes... I've had enough of this :bs: ..... :wtf:

my bet is still on the gas. try this. remove the carb inlet pipe. have some one spray starting fluid into the carb as you try to start it. have them spray a little in just to see if it will keep running. it sounds like the float is stuck or set to low.

Thats what I was thinking too, but the float is not adjustable, its completely plastic. I just rebuilt the carb 2 months ago too.. I didnt mes wit it today.. I saw on Dennis Kirk that moose makes a replacement igition coil for the stator, I may buy that just in case its that... Would give me a little piece of mind knowing that that was brand new too.... I'll check out the carb again tomorrow, maybe the float has a small leak in the seam and is taking in a little gas, holding it down a little, who knows, at this point I think anything is possible....

try what i said. that will tell you if it is electrical or gas. it could also be a clogged exhaust

Ok, I went out and messed with it a little today, and its doing the same thing.. As soon as it shut off, I took out the spark plug, and it was gassy.. So that means that its not having a fuel problem then right? If the gas is there, then that means that its not being ignited for some reason, right? I dont know......:fire: :lala:

it could also mean it is flooded. i doubt it is electrical. have you checked the choke? if the plug is wet it is getting to much gas, or not enough fire. almost any spark is enough to make it idle so i doubt it is electrical. cut the gas off and do the starting fluid trick that i mentioned. that is a easy trick to locate a fuel problem or a vacuum leak.
