I'm looking for a cheap way to give a big red more HP and torque. I wanted to drill holes in the air box lid and buy a box of Twin Air air box vents and glue those in. I know i will have to rejet or don't I? What is the stock jet for a 83 Big Red 200cc. Is it even worth it? Will I feel a better throttle response or not. I was then thinkin about DG RCM or Cobra megaphone. but i like the stock pipe cause i dont wanna bother people riding at night. :booty: :yup:

i believe the stock main jet is a 95, you will gain more top end and may have to go with a bigger jet depending on how many vents you put in.
the vents worked good on my tecate.

Those vents look pretty trick, but I would do as someone else here suggested and drill them yourself to the size of whatever rubber plugs you can find. that way if you want to get wet or muddy you can pop the plugs in and not worry about anything.

as far as a pipe goes you really have to decide if you want power or quiet. :D I think, though, that if you get one with a spark arrestor on the end it shouldn't be "too" loud.

I'd also plan on having to rejet. If you don't need it then you haven't really done anything to improve power.

When I had my quad apart I found a mouse nest in the airbox, I don't think that help's horse power:chuckle:

when u buy a pack of those plugs u get 4. they are 1'' in diameter each. I would drill 4 holes and put them in. even thou i have a filter on i still dont wanna take a chance on letting something slip through the filter. I wouild use those because it looks like air can still flow through and u wouild still get more protection then just having empty holes, besides my lid hardly gets dirty when i go mudding sinces its under the seat. if i do rejet would size should i bump it up to and what size should i bump it upto if i get a exhaust pipe. lets say i have wrong size jet how can u tell if its lean/rich.
