when i drained the oil on my 85 250r there was more water in there then there was oil. i know i have to replace the mechanical seal but will i need any other parts?

there's an oil seal on the shaft and you have to inspect the shaft for a groove where the seal rides. you also have to get a new copper crush washer and use an acorn nut. when i ordered a new nut from service is was a regular hex nut. there's also a washer behind the impellar that must be there. the tough thing is holding the impeller so you can TORQUE the nut. i tried holding the piece the first time and it loosened up in use and wasted the impeller filling the cooling system with alu flake. then i made a tool to hold the thing.....learn from this.
be extremely carefull keeping the mech seal surfaces CLEAN. crap from your fingers will keep the seal from working and it has no ability to clean itself.
