how hard was it to put the 85 250r suspension on the 200x? i have a spare and was thinking about it. it looks like i can just install the 250r races/bearings and use the 250r triple clamps. is that all there is to it?
Thats about it . If the head ID is the same. I use 200x on my SX:D

sorry it took so long to reply i wasn't blowin you off but i'm working on my chevelle and camaro mostly now
anyhew it's not a bad swap and is much easier than the 350x shock conversion
the main problem lies in converting the 250's tapered bearings to the 200x's balls
you use the 250 stem but you have to make a bushing to reduce the i.d. of the lower bearing race that you must remove from your 200x ,it has to be a press fit to the 250 stem
luckily the 250 stem length is compatible with the 200 so the threads and nut won't be a problem
then you transfer the upper race and nut from the 200 to the new assy.
the next problem you have to deal with is that the 250 triple doesn't contact the large adjustment nut. it took me awhile to figure out that this gap was causing my steering head to loosen duhh.
you have to make a spacer for this and install it after you set the bearing preload for the head, then put the upper triple on so the nut can't back off.
you also have to use the 250 brake since it switches sides and your headlite won't bolt up anymore although you can modify it to fit or just use the 250 lite like i did
i run the 250 forks up about 3 inches in the clamps to get the height right
all in all it's not a bad conversion if you have acess to a lathe but it does screw with your steeing a little bit since the geometry is a little goofy now
if i left anything out please ask as i'm going from 2 year old memories, when i get a digital camera i'll post pictures it's a really rad looking bike and i wanted to do a brake rebuild article for dan showing how to correct honda's cheap brake mounts
