how hard of a swap would it be to put a 200s motor into a 200x frame.Would there be any major problems?will the motor bolt right into the mounts on the 200x frame?
Thanks
Roger

I'll have to look at my 200s and 200x/s and check if the mounts are the same.... I'll get back to you on it.

I looked at them both side by side ,I just can't tell .Has anyone done the swap that has info or details on the project?I heard a funny crackle out of my exhaust on sunday and about 10 seconds later I heard a faint thump, and it stalled.my kick starter was locked up it wouldn't budge.we tried pull starting it in the first three gears and it just locked the tires up.I pulll started it once before and it started pretty easy in second gear.Anyways if anyone has info on the swap or notes ,it would be very helpful .
Thanks
Roger

yes it is easy! i have a 200x w/a 200s motor in it. it seemslike there ended up being 1 extra wire and i found it was a head light ground. the s has this wire to lead to the lights but the x is all just ground by being attached to the frame. so i just scwrewed that extra wire to the motor and everything is great. the bggest thing we dont like about that set-up is the gears are all high now and there isnt realy a low enough gear for climing. but you can put on a bigger rear sprocket and/or a smaller front. i went 1 tooth less on the front of ours and it is not enough. i havent looked into a bigger rear. ill tell you this though, the trike hauls a$$!!! it is way faster than i thought it would be.

p.s. the motor will bolt right in. they are the same mounting!

You will have to use the 200x motor mounts with the 200s motor.

I've got a 85 200X with a 84 200M electric start motor in it. I'm not sure which mounts the guy used. I bought it with the motor bolted in but not running. The guy who did the swap couldn't figure out the wiring. I think I just swapped on 200M or 200ES wiring harness. Anyways the main trouble I had was figuring out the rear brake system.
The 83-85 X rear brake pedal attaches to a boss on the X motor. The 185/200 engines don't have this boss. I ended up using a 86-87 rear brake pedal and master cylinder and mounted it on the footpeg boss just like a stock 86-87 rear brake setup. I did have to fabricate a mounting bracket to attach the master cylinder to the frame. It need to be back a 1/2 inch and up about 5/8 inch to bolt to the stock location on the frame. I hope this helps. My rear brakes work great and my wife loves the electric start and auto trans... Mounting the battery is the hardest part.
