Not that I really care because there is no battery on my 200s but my headlight is always on.
Pull the chord once twice about a dozen times the engine roars to life. But what's this the light refuses to stop shining.
Can anybody tell me what's wrong

did you check the switch for a short? (would not be an open since that would cause the light to be out..). Check for continuity through the switch in both the on and off positions.
Should be nothing going through it in the off position.

I have seen some that you had to push in and over to turn off. So that you dont turn your lights off by accident while flying down a road at night. And i cant recall if my 84 200s had it or not. But try pushing it in and then slidding over to the off position.
I am going to move this over to the tech section.

this is pretty obvious. if the switch wont go to off, then thats your answer. replace the switch. but like fuzzy said, it may be one of the models that you need to push the switch up and in to get to the off position. ive seen it as far back as 1982 models. if that doesnt work, replace the switch. by the way, who ya trying to hide from at night?!?!?! ha!

ok, i have an 84 200s, you have to push the button up, as in towards the kill switch, the on off button is preety easy to take apart and wire whatever way you want too, you can go to a hardware store and get a toggle switch also, but that wouldnt be stock ne more:cry:
spray it with W-D 40. under the lever & inside . may free up after couple days of spraying.

Thanks a lot I'll try your suggestions next time I turn it on (very soon). I should of thought about a new switch but I'll probably not bother if it works don't mess with it.

Glad it was nothing serious the first time i ran across this was on a big red. And i thought WTF??????. I was sure the switch was bad. Until i pused it in by accident. And then figured out that they did that on perpose as a safety feature.
