View Full Version : Is 300 engine in 250sx frame possible?

Would a 300 engine (ie late '80s fourtrax) fit in a 250sx frame? The bottem end/transmission looks the same, but would the jug fit?

The project I would like to start is taking a 250sx frame, swap in a 300 engine while keeping sx gear ratio, and add a 350x front end.

Have comments/tried this?? Please let me know.

Thank you,

Joel

Bigredone WELCOME!!

Hey I am not sure, but isnt the 300 chain driven vs the shaft on the 250sx? Major hiccup there if this is true. May I ask why the conversion? Perhaps more power, dead engine. Any of these things have more then one answer to help achieve your goal..:D

Thanks for the welcome!

2x4 300 is shaft driven, same setup as a 250es/sx. Reason for conversion: power/speed Make a trike that could have seen production before the demise.

aww ok, A couple of things to look into....

www.powroll.com has very very cheap pistons for sale. Check them out.

Also From what I understand, but you will need to verify, the 300 head is a nice matchup to the 250. But again someone will need to chime in and verify for sure.

From the looks of your signature, you prob know this engine fairly well. So I think you will find a nice, boost for your happiness.

This is actually a performance mod question so dont worry if one of the moderators change it over.. Very good luck on your mission!

They change the case a little the bottom end is the same size but i did not check the motor mounts to see if they changed them any.
I think you will have to alter the exsisting mounts because of the cylinder size.
