I have a 1985 Tri-z and it runs good, but the lights don't work. I have tried new bulbs, but no luck. What would cause this. Does one the electrical boxes control this. What does the voltage regulator do? Could this be it.

Maybe that broken wire from your other post is on your lighting coil and thats why you arn't getting any lights. I'll see if I can scan the Z wiring diagram, might help solve the problem.

As far as the jumping out of 5th gear, dads could be onto somthing depending where the broken wire is, or one of the gears in the tranny is going bad. I'd think if it was a broken wire NOT on the lighting coil it would break up in all gears when you get on the gas, not just 5th.

well it is starting to do it in 4th. It is one of the coils behind the flywheel. the copper wires all spun together, just one in broke

Here is the lighting diagram. The signal diagram which turns on the temp light is highlighted a little different.

That diagram will help you out quite a bit. I used a scan from this site to trouble shoot the lighting problem on my buddy's 200X. Turns out, the previous owner had hacked into the harness for some unknown reason and left the light disconnnected.
