I have heard that any automotive oil that is NOT energy conserving will work fine in an engine with wet clutches.

any decent automotive oil will work, especially if you change it once in a while. Look for the starburst emblem on the bottle - that tells you it passed ASPE specs or some such.
10w30 or 10w40, not 'energy conserving' -

atf is NOT motor oil.

so pennzoil 10w30 would be good.

change it occasionally, like when it turns dark brown or
every 20 - 30 hrs

Like Glenn and putt said, as long as is doesnt say 'energy conserving' - Then it wont have the friction modifiers added and your good to go.

The engine oil also lubes the trans gears as well as the clutch.
