it is a 84 250( R? Es?)shaft drive.
this is a rebuild project this critter was dumped at my place some time ago and I decided to start rebuilding it since 3wheelers are quite abit of fun.
I have not been able to determine whether or not things like the axle are replacable with the different year models
If anyone has any info that might help sure would aperciate it.

are you sure it's an '84? if it's a 250 w/ shaft drive it's either a 250es big red or a 250sx. the shaft drives will interchange between any 250es or sx and even some trx's

Yup definately a 84 can still read some of the frame sticker
and I am pretty familair w/ 250 honda's some there is no doubt that it is a 250
it has whats left of a battery case so I am thinking electric start
(I only have the upper end trying to track down where I put lower end several years ago)
shaft drive is all there no markings on it that I found.
no plastic so no hint on the body tank and dash panel missing and presumed dead. don't know that it would have helped in IDing the carcass. going to have to find alotto parts for it and I aint no purist, by any means, so any year that works I am okay w/
first item I will be looking for is a new axle(old one sheared of on one side) and the brake drum(missing)
thanx for your reply and if I get any more markings that might help will pester some more.

if it's a 250 there should be a "246 cm/3" marking somewhere on the motor. the reason I say this is b/c the only shaft drive '84 honda was a big red 200. either way it's a trike so it's good. :D

regardless you should be able to use shaft drive parts from 85-87 and I think through maybe 88 or 89 fourtrax models. however I have heard there were some differences between the 87+ units and the earlier models so i can't confirms whether individual parts will swap but you can interchange the whole assm.

let's see a pic of it, always good to have some "before" shots ;)

If its an 84' it is a 200. Only year they made the shaft drive 200. You can also find parts that will fit off of an 84 TRX200. Should have a little gear selector lever on the left side of the motor for high low and reverse. Unless of course somebody did a hack job and changed it out to a 250!
