recently i took out the old 83 200x for a ride and the cam gear bolts backed out and busted the chain off. The bolts took some metal from the cdi case with them. Also the case under the kickstarter cracked. Took it all apart replaced the bolts and lock-tighted them in. Set the crank at top dead center and installed the cam so that the valves are closed and the lobes are pointed down. A tube of rtv later I had it all back together and adjusted the valves, filled her with gas, oil and tried to start her up. NO START.:wtf: Checked for spark and that is good. Smelled fumes in the pipe. please someone help me

This may help or not..... I had the same problem on my Toyota and took it in... the guy adjusted the valves and it fired right up. Kind of the same situation, I hope this helps.

better double check the cam chain and sprocket....sounds like it could be timing??
don't give up - you'll get it right. good luck!

you got the big three, but is your airbox allowing air to enter the carb?

How many times have you kicked it over? Mine took about 20 but it fired right up and idled around 20. Have you checked the spark? Made sure the wires are correct?

pull the cover off of the cdi on the lt side of the motor. Take out the screws and bolt that hold the piece in and there is a spring loaded mechanism. on this mechanism( dont know what the hell it is called ) there are 2 fingers with little teflon pieces on them no bigger than 1/8". do you need them? will it cause it not to start?

can you also adjust the timing by the metal ring in the cdi that is held by 2 screws?

me and my friends had the same problem with his 110...what it was on the cdi the little magnet thingy(dunt know what its calld lol) that spins on the end of the cam shaft has a + and a - take the bolt off and turn it till it points triogt up and down...then try..it has something to do with the negitive hitting the points befor the positive or the other way around...just fiddle with that and it will work..lol
