Have you checked the control panel where your friend hit his head on for damage? Also are the cables going to and from the starter damaged or have they come off the connection points on either end?

Give it a go and see if it works!

The panel should come apart somehow-just fiddle and experiment with it and if there is some damage in the panel you will probably need some knowledge of electronics and simple tools or you can have a atv dealer do it for you. And if that fails buy a service manual for the 250sx for about $20-$30 and try and troubleshoot it with the manual. As a last resort to your problems take to your atv specialist and explain what happend and they should solve it for you.

Good Luck!!

By nothing happening do you mean when you hit the starter button it dosnt turn the starter over?. Can you kick start it to make sure it isnt something in the starter circuit. And if i recall the starter on it should be in the front of the motor. And if he put it in the ditch. Maybe one of the wires came loose or broke off of the starter itself. So check all the wires on the starter itself. And try to kick start it and see if it runs at all. That will help us to pinpoint the problem.
