200s idle and running prob???

I just purchased a almost mint 1982 honda 200s. It has massive compression and I can bearly start it on my own. Anyways... When i do get it to start it will not idle, When i run it through the gears it bogs in the first 3 and then gets up to speed??? I would really like to fix the bog (it feels like it hesitates and then sputters) problem first ?? Any help would be great

you can check a couple of things first, but you'll probably end up
cleaning the carb which isn't a big deal or any real money.
Check to make sure fuel is flowing by pulling the fuel line off where
it goes into the carb, and open the pet**** - make sure there's a
steady stream. Make sure air filter is on, and not clogged.
Put in a new plug. If it's still acting up, just take the carb off,
get some carb cleaner, and carefully disassemble it and clean
each part thoroughly. Put it back on and you should be all set.
