Cat i have to hand it to you. There nothing i like to see more then a guy all done up in protective gear. I know you are a real extreme rider. And i can tell by your equipment that you take rideing seriously. And nothing freaks me out more then seeing people posting pics of them doing stunts. With no helmet and no shirt on and wearing shorts and sandles. My hats off to you. :headbang:

Matt let me tell you from a person that still has tar imbedded in my arm from road rash. That when ever you are riding any bare skin is a no no. Ground and rocks=hard. skin=soft. If you dont mind having your skin torn from your body then i say go for it. But i myself have been there done that worn that t-shirt. If you know what i mean.

Number One !!! Helmet, with preferably a SNELL rating to it. Long Live HJC.
Number Two !!! Goggles.. I like Scott.
Number Three !!! Gloves.. Full fingered, none of this Harley rider, fingerless crap.
My son knows this and he is 2 years old. "gog" = goggles.. Rapid pointing at the head = Helmet. and hand in the air with fingers spread = gloves. and he KNOWS it.
Unfortunately in my line of work I have heard WAYYYYYYYY to many stories of people not coming back from a joy ride on an ATV. I am glad to hear proper safety being promoted on this forum and even better such a great demonstration in the pic at the start of this thread.

i also have scars and rocks in my arm from road rash, and i agree number one is a helmet, but i wont wear one that isnt dot inspected also, i have 3 of them that are, 1 for racing, 1 for winter, and 1 as a spare or as a helmet around the yard. i also wont ride unless im wearing full knee high race boots you might say that work boots are good, better than shoes atleast, but ihave yet to sprain or hurt an ankle in race boots, whereas i have torn ligaments with work boots on. also long sleeved shirts are a must and full pants, rocks in the arms dont feel too good even after a year of them being there.

Heheh... DOT approved.. In Michigan that is a running joke. The Harley guys found that to be a loophole. They went to court and said that the DOT meant nothing and the court could not prove otherwise. The wound up revising Michigan law to state additional characteristics of an aproved helmet besides "DOT approved". This is one of the reasons I look for the SNELL rating.
That and the fact I like to keep my head together.
Actually Slontchyaa is a complement about other peoples riding. It is a compilation of a question and a comment both written in slang.
