Ok,,,,I pulled the 78 motor out of it and stuck in an 85 motor...Everything went together quite well....Except when I went to put the pull start on(78 model)...It wont go on all the way on the 85 motor,,,It is a good 1/4 in away from being seated...Im sure that there are differences between yrs...Does anyone know what yrs fit what????

Seriously tho, Craig, (this is a tad out of my of my league for me to tell ya this but) Along with the recoil changing, the flywheel changed and the crank changed.. so be very careful with getting parts for the correct engine. Alot of things will interchange, but alot will not. There were some head changes as well. so watch for them.

Well I match part #'s up. You can match engine vins through 3ww spec pages. Alot of stuff you can get away with useing, but when it comes to the physical engine stuff you will have to get the right year. Electronic, carb, and stuff of that nature you can swap around. It is just easier to find matching engine tho.

Ill check that out....I was told that the trike was original so it should be the 78 frame and engine....Ill check the spec pages on 3WW and see what I can find....Thanks again,
You gonna be able to make it out to Spinreel????

Welp....According to 3WW...It is infact the original 78 and the extra motor is the 85....
