in this small dent there is a leak,a very small leak.could i stop the leak with a small amount of jb and then fill, sand, and repaint this fork.i have done body work on metal gas tanks before but i have never tried to seal a leak like that first.if it is out of the question i will just buy forks.but wanted to ask you guys first.

Wouldn't welding be the way to go? You'd have to find someone that knows what they're doing but it would be better than JB Weld.

i think your best bet is to tear it down and have a welding shop tig weld it . there is alot of hydraulic pressure going on in there cause your below the oil level,,, :D :D jb might hole but if it doesn't you will be doing it again,, welding it would would be forever,,, or find another set of forks rebuild them paint them up and swap them out,,,,

before spending the money to weld them you should check out the inside of the leg.
if the leg has been dented even the slightest it will cause stiction, binding, and premature wear on the outer bushing. you can easly see if its been dented by disassembling the fork and completely cleaning out the slider and looking down inside. the sliders are very thin and dent easily
just for referance a looong time ago i tried to jb weld a similar hole with no luck.

My wife did that to one of our 350X's last year at the dunes. Fortunately, I had me another set layin' around. She bent both forks!
Dang womenz!:D
