myshop ordered stem bearings for a 350x, but only could find the year 85, not 86, he ordered 85, but don't fit over the lip on the trees. he got the bottom part of the bearing off, Is the 86 tripple different from the 85? and what bearing will work?, I wanna get this 84 250r fork and front end with the 350x tripples done.

first of all what are you having difficulty getting on? the bearings themselves or the bearing race.

second are you using stock bearings or aftermarket tappered bearings?

if you have 85 bearings your question makes no sense since 85 bearings are loose balls and don't need to go "over" the stem

the 85/86 steering stems are exactlly the same so if you have 86 "caged" bearings thier should be no problem.

if it is the bearing race you can't get on it needs to be pressed on with a hydrolic press

if you have tappered bearings they need to be pressed on with a hydrolic press.

I got the aftermarket tapered bearing, he tried to press it on and they won't pass the lip, measured the I.D of the bearing and it fit perfectlywith the top and bottom, but for some reason the there is a lip that it thicker and it won't go down.
