If it's been sitting , and might be gungked up, I had some luck this way with a 110 that didn't want to shift ( after a few years in a barn ). Drained 1 qt of oil out and put in 1 qt Gunk engine cleaner ( basically kerosene, I think ), ran that about five minutes, then drained and filled with 0W20 Mobil 1, and just kept playing patiently with it. After about an hour of tooling around the yard, gently but persistently trying to shift, it finally started to get one gear, then another. When I drained it again, I got oily chunks of crap out - so that routine definitely managed to work some gunk loose.

So, if you think it might be gunked up, that might work. You checked to make sure the clutch is releasing , right ?

i really don't think it is gunked up or anything like that the motor is less than a year since rebuild... i thought it was kind of stickin the last time i rode it like it wouldn't return when you shifted up but then i thought it was my imagination...

If it's a worn/bent shifter fork or something, hopefully one of the mech wizards will post. I've never had to tear into one.
That Mobil 1 0W20 thing worked for me, so might be worth a try before tearing down again . . .
Good luck, muddy. I'm waitin' for some snow - cracked a couple of ribs doing a classic high side yahoo a few weeks ago, and now I'm taking easy till I can ride on something soft. . . .

you might have a broken spring on the shift arm that rotates the shift drum,,,
