throttle position sensor. most people deactivate this feature on the bikes they come on standard.

The new machienes have a TPS? Geez, they're turning in to cars!

Although, given the trouble my carb sometimes gives me, I could get used to fuel injection. ;)

I've never heard of anyone deactivating this feature. I guess you could do that if the bike has too much power for you and you want to tune it down. The ignition curve is always maximized since the ignition "knows" where the trottle is positioned. My 450R has one, you wouldn't be very smart to get ride of it.

Well, you might be misinformed on how this works, its designed to be sort of a rev limiter to keep you from blowing up the motor. they are the same thing on cars, thats why you by a chip to override it in cars with computers that you race. its also the first thing that is disabled on "most" race bikes. they sell kits to disable it. the blaster is the one i know of this happening on alot.

Well I have 22 ASE certifications and I know what a TPS does. I have a totally built fuel injected Mustand and I doubt it would even drive down the road with the TPS unhooked.

I agree that a TPS is different on a car....it's more or less used in the injection system, not as a rev limiter.

Please correct this old fart if I am wrong, but how could you even use a TPS on a 350X?
Doesn't the 350X have a stand alone CDI ignition with a fixed curve? joe I would put it on and try it, you may be suprised at how close it is if it has the stock jetting.

i got to thinking about it and its totally different on a fuel injected system, like in a car. BUT, in a carburated system you dont need it.

Well blown331 if you have 22 ASE certifications you know that when the tps is unplugged the pcm runs in open loop so the engine is running full rich for safety reasons. It will run but not at its best because of the rich mixture. Carbed ATV's are not setup on the same pcm setup as your mustang or any other car as of yet but probably will be fuel injected in the very near future.
