congrats on your new purchase. back in the day there were quite a few mods available, but I'm not sure how many of them are left. I think you can still get a pipe and silencer. porting, high compression piston, different gearing, and a bigger carb are always good options.

DK sells Boyesen Power reeds for the YT175. That is a good cheap mod you can do you can also do a top end rebuild with a new Wiesco piston and rings. Finding a pipe is going to be nearly impossible. Nobody currently makes one. You may get lucky and find one on e-bay but that will be your only chance to find one. I've rebuilt a YT125 and found that there are not many upgradeable parts left. I did both a top end and bottom end rebuild along with a new clutch, reeds, piston, shaved head, knifed transfer ports,
? connecting rod
and all lower and upper end bearings. My motor runs great now. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

If you remove your carb you'll also be able to pull out the reed cage. That 1/2 inch thick piece you see between the carb and where it mounts on the motor is the outer part of your reed cage. It comes right out when you remove the carb. There are two screws that hold your stock reeds to the cage. The stock reeds are probably steel. The boyeseon reeds are a fiberglass/epoxy blend and will improve your throttle response(to keep it simple). Easy to change. Be prepared to replace the gaskets for the carb and reed cage. You don't want any air leaks there. I was hoping you lived nearby so we could hook up and ride but I live in the Massena area. 11 miles from the Canadian border. Probably 4 - 5 hours north of you. Honestly, if your trike runs good, I'd probably just run it. These two strokes can be REAL finickey if you mess with them and not know what you're doing. Not doubting your mechanical ability. Just my opinion.
