anybody have a method or sure fire way for setting tires on? i have a 15X7X6 tire that im tring to bead and it wont work. ive tried using a rope and a small air compresser but no luck. its a wide tire/rim combo and i think thats part of the problem. any tips or idea are greatly appreciated.

thanks again

i,ve used a ceap 1" rachet strap around the middle. two people. some times dish soap or something gooy will help seal any gaps. :bash: :lala: :wtf:

You need more air pressure, and soapy water....or "goopy" LOL

ok take it soap it up set it outside away from everything be prepared to run.......blow till it hit 40 pds of pressure and let it sit for about an hour. should bead by then. CREEPY huh:eek:

P.s I paid someone to be that nutty Thats the method they used.

I think what Dave's talking about is that the air is escaping between the tire and rim and he can't get the tire to catch the rim. You have to get the air to go in faster. Removing the valve core helps but then you can't use a regular tire chuck. I made my own quick inflator for this. I had a quick coupler made for valve stems that had a removeable core in it. It is similar to couplers for air lines. I used several short pieces of pipe and a ball valve to turn the air on and off ( I wish I had a digital camera). This also leaves your hands free to manipulate the tire/rim. This isn't 100% effective, but works most of the time. If nothing else works, just put tubes in 'em.

Thats the old timers way to set the bead on the 20s to 50s car tire because the side walls were so stiff. It is not a recarmended pracktes but it works.:D

I dont know what "Beading a tire" means for one. But to get the bead to go in, I get the tire on, press the sides to the walls of the rims and use an air compresser to fill the tires up so much that the bead pops in.

Spray the inside of the tire with tire sealent might work.

im curious about youre idea 250rAL. whats this contraption look like? im also jlooking at the starting fluid deal. does that work? my problem is that the tires wont even catch and hold air. the air keeps excaping through the rim. 250ral, try to send me a pick if you can or give me like a smilar device please. you may be my only hope!

thanks everybody,

I have found that you keep putting ratchet straps around the tire, in the direction it rolls. The straps will cause the sidewalls to bulge out. You might have to put more than one on (I had to use three one time)

ya man on the straps. use that strating fuild you wont have a tire to worry about or a head. now heres one you wont believe. if you have a slow leak or a bead leak. dont buy the high dollar green slime that may or may not work. use anti freeze. it,s a sealer also and will travel it the tire. i used slime and it has never worked. the anti freeze has worked every time. in buggy tires hondas lawn mover wheel barrow. plus its 5$ a gallon not 18$ a quart

if you take the core out of the tire stem you can get the air to go into the tire quicker.

I saw these guys in Norway or something doing it that way on the Discovery channel. They have Toyota Landcruisers and Tundras, with like 44's on them for crossing snow/ice fields. They run the tires real low, and they have these exaggerated pre-runner front bumpers (that stick forward like 6 feet) in case the front end drops into a crevasse (sp?) or something, the bumper will catch it. Sure enough, when a tire popped off the bead out there, they'd take it off the truck, lay it down, and use gas or lighter fluid and light it and POOF!, it's on the bead AND INFLATED. Looked nuts to me!
