When the lower camshaft sprocket is pressed on the crankshaft, does it have to be at a certain position? I just can not get it to line up with the "T" mark, but it will line up perfectly with the "F" mark. The timing is off just about a 1/4", would this make it bog if I try to gun it.(timing not advancing)

I think the lower gear can go on in any position. The chain adjusts with the top gear by sliding one or 2 links over the gear. How are you adjusting it now?

i can't say that I have any experience in this particular situation, but if you take the lower gear off, I would think that the teeth would have to be back in the exact same spots. if they are off just a couple degrees either way you will not be able to ever get it timed right... or lets say that the bottom gear is fine, what about your cam chain? if you replaced the gear did you replace the chain to? if not a stretched out chain or even a worn out chain tensioner could make you not line up...

best of luck

I replaced upper and lower cam sprockets, timing chain, and chain tensioners.

What type of bike is it? If it is a 200x(83-85) a tooth on crank is lined up TDC.
