I followed the guide in the tech tip questions but I need to know a few more things.
First, is the yellow thing necessary? I dont have a compression release on my trike so I am assuming that is why I dont have the yellow piece in mine right?
Second, I bought some rubber gasket sheets from Home Depot to cut a gasket since it was without one. Is rubber going to be sufficient or do I need some cork?
Third, 2 of the 5 (four if you dont count the neutral indicator bolt) bolt holes are stripped. It is the pair on the bottom. I am planning to just run a bead of rubber cement across the seam after I get it back on. Will this keep the water out?
finally, If I pull the rope housing out is the spring going to pop out as well or is there anything in the case retaining the spring?
Luckily my pullstarter doesnt need rebuilt, it was just jammed up. I am going to sand all the crud off of the parts. Its looking kinda nasty in there but nothing looks cancerous so it should be alright. Thanks.
Also, since water was getting into the housing is there any way it could get past the flywheel into my bottom end? Also there is about 2mm of play laterally in my shiftshaft. Is this normal?
