so who on the board is going to come out and support trikes?next sunday there is a harescramble race at www.sunsetramblers.com,in gailion, ohio.not a real tough track,as far as big jumps, but it's 11/2 hours long and tons of fun.if enough trikes show up they will put us in our own class.we will still race with the quads, but scored seperate.so how about it,support a track that supports you!!!20 bux per person, you can get more info through the site listed above, hope to see ya there!!!!starts at noon:2finger:

Too bad I live in St. Louis now. This is where I raced MX on my 250R last April. If anyone lives nearby, go check it out and don't be afraid even if you have never raced before.

Hey 3leg, you running alone or team? I actually got the silly idea in my head that I may want to race! LOL! My T4 would NEVER finish a HS...runnin 18s all the way around, and got nothing else to run. You guys think my brother 350Xhilaration would let me go out and tear up his X? Nah, didn't think so. I am only about 5hrs away from Galion. My biggest problem is my wrist right now. I kinda had a jump toss me the wrong way. I landed about 4 feet right of where I needed to be..slammed on the binders and went into the 2 foot ditch hard. Popped my wrist and it still hurts. Hmmm, tempting for sure. It would be great fun to run a HS on a trike. Lemme think about this for a day or two. :demon:

A group of my friends are loading up the sleds to head up north Saturday for some riding and I have been invited to go too. As far as the 200X, thanks for the offer on that one, but just a bit small for me. A team ride on the R IS tempting for sure, but gotta see how my arm is feeling. To be honest, only a few days to go and not looking good. Very tender right now. BTW How much $$$$$$$$ we talkin for the racing? Do I have to buy am AMA Membership? If so, then they can pound salt. If it just cost entry fees, that's fine, but can't stand when all the other crap, buying memberships, buying your #, insurance and all the other little add ons. I will prob only ever run one event there, and refuse to pony up a $100 or so. (or have somebody else waste their $$ on me) I will keep thinkin on this for sure. Later 3Leg

well it cost 22 bux to race,no membership, and you will have to have some kind of numbers, you can enter your quad if you want,we can ride as a team that way aswell, keep me posted on your recovery,c-ya 3leg:thumbsup:

I talked it over with the wife...(the SMART one of the family) and she came up with a few good points. Snow IS coming soon and it would be a real drag to NOT be able to ride when it does due to me going out and hurting my wrist even more trying to run a HS with it sore already. I am sorry if I got your hopes up 3leg, I did intend on comin out, but she is right, (Oh,saying that hurts more than the wrist! :lol ) Good luck and have a blast. Try to get some pics of the course, other machines and anything else interesting. BTW, I am not going up north with a group of friends for some sleddin either! About 8 or so are gonna spend the day and tonight upstate where the HAVE snow!

well speedbump sorry you didn't get to come,it was a blast.derrick and tim won the 3wheeler class, and we came in 2nd but only by 1/3 of a lap!!bummer, well we still done very well, placed 6th 7th overall out of 21 teams,3 teams were pro quad teams!!!they rode 28 laps,4th,5th place rode 27 laps and both trike teams ran 26 laps.the other 14 teams all rode 25 laps.guys on 450r's,yzf 450's,and raptors all fell prey to our 20 year old bikes!!!!:headbang: gotaa love it,although both teams experinced tech problems, which cost both teams 2 laps,if we would not of had trouble we possibly could of placed in the top 5
overall.it was great,we will post pics. soon!!!

Congrats!!! Did any of the quad guys talk to you before OR after the race? Were any of them surprised? I would assume that quite a few of them had never actually seen a 3 performance 3 wheeler in action. Sounds like you guys had a blast. I am kinda peeved I couldn't make it. I sat in the house all day today. It finally started snowing this morning, got about an inch or two so far. Still not able to go out and ride. Wrist is feeling much better, but not pushing it...wife's rules! Hurry and get some pics up. Can't wait to see em. L8R

I'll add my part to this post. When we pulled in, we had all sorts of people commenting on the trikes. The track officials were ecstatic to see us. Only four of us showed up, but they decided to run our own class anyway. So it went Team Yamaha and Team Honda!

We had several of the old timers come up to us and say things like "I've haven't seen this many 3 wheelers together in years.". Lots of people taking pictures of them, etc. I almost felt like a circus performer.

That is until they dropped the flag! For what ever reason we were off and passing quads like they were sitting still.

One spot in particular there was a sharp turn into an uphill that dumped out onto the flat track, which you followed half way around. Keep in mind that the ground was frozen solid (with ice) but as the quads were getting stuck half way up the hill, or sliding back down it, we were cranking right up it! Then hitting the top and grabbing a couple gears and hanging it sideways pinned in 5th around the flattrack section. Screaming by anyone in front of us.

That was such a thrill. Cruising by the YFZ's and 450R's wide open as they watched in amazement.:headbang:

I did get spilled once in a tight turn (300ex rider used me for a berm) and spun out once. Other than that it was great. Tim Sr. spun my tire off the rim, which cost us 2 laps, but we made up for it!

When it was over we had alot of thumbs up from the quad riders and earned a little respect for the trikes. What a great time.

The track officials thanked us for a great show and invited us back anytime. (The track owner is an old time trike racer and really loves to see trikes running.)

Unfortunately, there was too much chaos for me to get pictures, but there was some Quad web-site photographers there snapping lots of pics of us. We were told that they will be posted soon. When they are we'll paste them here. Until then, you'll just have to wait.

By the way, I used to MX a Tecate4 for years back in the day. I don't know about yours, but mine was flat out SICK! By far the fastest thing i've ridden to date.

As far as "flat out sick", mine's not. Only mods to the engine, Crappy FMF pipe/silencer. No aftermarket reeds or even airfilter. It runs good, don't get me wrong, but my other T4 that I just sold would run circles around this one. THIS one will be "flat out sick" very soon.

Nice weather out there. Kinda looks odd for a HS to be in the snow. ;) Do they run them year round out there?

How many total machines were there entered? Trike and quads.

Derrick Adams
01-16-2005, 07:37 PM
They only run the Harescrambles in the winter months. There were 21 teams total.

I know we had the only 4 trikes there.
There were 2 other 2 strokes, a Quad Racer and a Blaster
The majority were Big Bore Four Strokes.
