my friend has a 84 200s motor that he is putting in his 200s frame, he got the motor from a guy for free cuz the guy said that it needed the timing chain put on and didnt have the time to do it. and i have rebuilt a couple so i put it on for him and timed it, so heres the problem, everything moves great in the motor when the cam is off and the valves are not moving, but when the cover is on, and the valves are moving, the motor will stop when it is turned over, it stops when the exhaust valve goes down, the valve moves fine when the cover is off, and you can see it move threw the exhaust hole, the lever that moves the valve is not bent, and the tappet, where you check and aline the valve clearance at, is not too large, and is positioned correctly at top dead center, also, when turning the motor over, the sprocket will move a little bit, even though it is in neutral, if you push on the sproket it wont move, just when you dont touch it and turn the motor over. so my question is, is the vavle to big? or what else could be causing it to stop when the valve opens, i do not know if the valve is hitting the piston or not. and does this motor have internal problems in the tranny, or is the sproket moving a little bit normal? im confused, like usual, so ne help is appreciated, thank you in advance.
