Well here is a link to my picture page tell me what you think about My 3 wheeler even though it dosent have any axle or swingarm on the back. I bought it in the fall and im slowly restoring it. The gray seat has to go along with the steel tank and front tire. youll also see some other stuff there to.

tell me about your tank... rust ?? dents ??

I have a brand new red plastic Clarke tank that i paid $140 for.
It hasn't even had a half tank of gas run through it yet.
I have been looking for a steel tank for my restoration.

Maybe we can make a deal.

email me at AKohler883@aol.com

Well lets see knee preint kick mark a nice rollover mark. i onlu p[ut in the roll over dent and the rust? well do you normally like redish brown fuel? well it is in tough shape its more of a strainer than a tank. it is basicly held togather with BELZONA around the bottom. i found a plastic tank online for 125 bucks so i think im going to get it

Hopefully you are looking at a Clarke tank, i wouldn't trust any of those other cheap brands. There are a bunch being sold on ebay.
If you are interested i will sell you my Clarke for $110 plus shipping, it hasn't even had a half tank of gas run through it yet.

$285 for a brand new 87 Honda ATC250SX tank.
A bit more than i am willing o plunk down willingly.

Be careful with white plastic tanks.....they tend to yellow easily, that's why i got talked out of white.

Oh yeah, and decals don't stick to plastic tanks either.

They bubble up, from the gas vapors.

Dude, ServiceHonda.com , part number 17520-HA6-770ZA, 1987 Model, $285.11.

If this was the ONLY part i still needed...i would buy it.
But i am holding out for a decent one on ebay, even if i have to paint it.

I was thinking about doing the shiny Maier rear fender too, to save money.....am i nuts ? should i just go for it all ?

to be damn honist with you i would consider a cat scan if you have the cash and want the tank and dont get it.
i was looking from bikebandit.com and there original stock tank is 475 dollars and some change. im now thinking about that tank but plastic is good because it dosent show as many scratches and dents. but for a restoration i would do it

that's the problem.....not enough cash to buy all of the following...

new tank, new rear fender and tool box, new blue factory fork boots, used blue seat, and a used headlight

easily talking $600-$700.....and i got $1200 in the trike as it sits.

as long as you put some kind of gas tank coating on the inside of the white plastic tank it won't turn yellow.

If i knew someone that could fix my tank, and repaint it white....for about $100....i would do it.
First the inside rust would need to be removed, and coated.
Existing dents are pretty ugly, someone tried to pound them out from the inside out....it didn't work.
And Bondo cracks off eventually with too much physical or heat stress... i am afraid it would not turn out well.

white paint is cheap, for one. and done right bondo isnt gonna fall out or crack, lest it hit hard and then there is a dent. 100 bucks to paint it. I'could paint a hood of a car red (expensive) with clear for 100. They too much into making maoney. paint cost probally 20 bucks, dents cant be too bad, bondo is cheap, sand paper proabbly 5 bucks worth, surfacer (sandable primer) nother 20 bucks. ok and an hour labor, 40 bucks. ok maybe i don't know how much it cost u all. U live close bring it to me and i'll paint er for ya.

Dudez, BONDO RULEZ!!!!!!!!!!:headbang: My autoshop teacher uses it on his racecar, and he goes about 150 on average, and he drives hard, so if it can hadle the racetrack it should be ok for the tank, just try doing some manual labor and save some cash.
