what would happen if i tighten down the big nut on the top of my shock and how could i tell if my shock needs to be refilled or replaced, any help would be great thanks.:headbang: :headbang:

LMAO, or come to a forum called Tech in a 3wheeler site.
If it feels like it's all "spring", as in it has no dampening, then you need a rebuild.

Here is a link to a great thread about adjustiing the spring on your shock. This should answer the question about adjusting the big nut.

One really quick test of a shocks rebound ability is to push down as hard as you can on the rear bar and compress the shock as much as possible. When you let go, it should come back up somewhat slowly. You can also hear the oil moving through the inside of the shock. If it comes back up quickly, then it needs rebuilt.
