First, it's always nice to know someone else who has the same kind of trike you do.
:headbang:

Second, it sounds like a valve to me. I have never rejetted my carb. (same year and all) but I'm not an expert by any means.
I would ask double r, he has helped me out with alot of tech stuff for my 125, by the way he has the same 84' 125m that we do.

You didn't harm a valve or skew your timing just by puting the exhaust back on. Can you tell us what it's doing ?
Is it running ?

If it ran OK with an exhaust leak, but doesn't want to run with the exhaust in place, check for a clogged muffler before you go further. . . .

I think you should listen to this guy, sounds like he knows a thing or two about motors:yup:

i know a thing or too myself, but not as much about trikes!,lolthe exhaust isnt clogged(it doesent even have a baffle) i just discovered the carb is gummed up and pretty much trashed,i had cleaned it,but the tank is giving out small rust pieces and they clogged the carb where i cant get anything in to clean it out,so im just getting another carb from azhondagirl and cleaning out the tank, and i should be good to go,thanks for the help though, and putting my fear of hurting the valves to rest!:D

my Dad told me about this stuff bikers use on older bikes that coats the inside of the tank. He even gave me some of the stuff. All I did was drain it, plug it, and swish this stuff around in the tank for like 5 min. and it put a coat of shiney stuff the dried like paint. Ususally it is made to coat varnish in the tank but it does wonders for rust. I'll try to get a hold of him and find out the name of the stuff for you.
