heres a tech tip for you 350X guys. one of my little suspension secrates

if you want to increses your front suspension travel and get better action, the 83/84 ATC 250R uses the exact same diameter fork legs as a 350X. however the 250R has more travel. now before you think to just switch your 350X forks for 250R forks you have to relize the 250R is trailing axel and the 350X is leading axel. if you were to just use the 250R forks you would decrease your wheelbase and on a front end light 350X that is not good. the trick is the remove the inner damping rods from the 250R forks and install them in the 350X sliders ( lower fork legs). this will increase your travel 1" and alow you more spring choices. you can now run 350X springs with differant spacers, 350X progressive springs or run stock 250R springs for a stiffer rate. or run progressive suspension 250R springs for an even stiffer spring.

oh the options avalible

I am thinking of doing this. MR.atc would you use the new 350X progressive rate springs that I allready have in the bike or would you use the 250R springs instead? I am looking for a happy medium hard hits on jumping and a smoother ride:)

ok i'm not sure if you ripped of my thread or you did not know how to paste a quote. I do belive your asking a question though and even though this is a old post the info is still relevent so i'll answer.

spring rates depend on your weight, type of riding, and skill level.

but as a generall rule...the 350x stock springs are the lightest rate. followed by the stock 250R, then progressive's springs.

you can also fool around with oil weight and height.

personally i weigh 190lbs, use progressive springs, run 15wt oil at 5.5" from the top with the springs out and forks collapsed. however this setup would be too stiff for most riders.

atc nut, I was infact trying to paste a quote and not stealing your thread and I am greatful for your reply:cool:

do you use spacers with the progressive rate springs

at the moment I also weigh about 200 and am a decent rider with stock fork tubes and progressive rate springs, 1.751nch spacers with 10 weight oil and not sure of the quantity. any suggestions would be
